- - The Pug originates from China, and were once a firm favorite of Tibetan monks. The breed enjoys a long history in terms of ancestry, and in the sixteenth century was introduced in Holland by Prince William of Orange. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1885.

- Shih Tzu - The Shih Tzu was a favorite pet of the wealthy and the royals in its native Tibet, and was much loved by the imperial dynasties. In the 1930s the breed was introduced in England, and following the Second World War was also introduced in America. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1969.

- West Highland White Terrier - The West Highland White Terrier was bred in the Highlands of Scotland, and was used as a vermin hunter. Several of these dogs were pictured in the famous 'Breakfast Party' painting by Sir Edwin Landseer in the 1830s. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1908.

- Shetland Sheepdog - Bred from larger farm collies, the Shetland Sheepdog originates from the Shetland Islands. They were introduced in mainland England shortly prior to the First World War. They have a history that is thought to go back well over a century, and the breed was registered with the AKC in 1911.

- Chow Chow - The Chow Chow originates from China, and was bred for hunting, protection, and herding, as well as protection. By the late eighteenth century Chow Chows had been introduced in Great Britain. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1903.

- Clumber Spaniel - The Clumber Spaniel originates from Great Britain, and has become known as the 'portly gentleman's shooting dog'. A dignified and easy going breed, these dogs have become favorites amongst the more laid back hunters. The breed was registered with the AKC in 1878.
